Specifications:

Pentair 59053800 filter center core purpose:
  • Top end of filter core rises above the filter cartridge with a sealed end that fits in a rectangular opening in the filter lid acting as a plug in the top of the filter preventing dirty water from entering the center of the filter.
  • Bottom end connects to water outflow fitting routing the hydraulic pressure water flow inside the filter tank such that unfiltered water coming in to the filter flows over the filter cartridge 150 or 200 sq. ft. surface area and thru the filter into the center core, so clean and clear filtered water is forced down and out back in to the pool.

Pro Tip:

When doing filter cartridge maintenance on the Clean and Clear filter, the center core should remain inside the filter.  It should not pull out with the cartridge filter.  If it does come out, that indicates that the center core was not properly locked in place to the bottom of the filter tank.

If the center core does come out with the filter, gently pull the cartridge off the core to separate it.  The filter cartridge should be cleaned without the center core inside to allow more debris to freely rinse off the cartridge while cleaning.  Place the center core back in the filter tank, lining up with the center whole in the bottom of the tank.  Turn the center core clockwise until it goes down in to place and you hear a locking sound and it cannot turn any further.
