We offer replacement filter cartridges and original waterway filter parts for your Crystal Water 425 filter. The Waterway Crystal Water 425 cartridge filter (model number 570-0425-07) helps to improve flow and reduce system noise with it's one-of-a-kind 2-1/2 inch internal piping system. Four cartridge elements are used for 425 square feet of total filter area.
Waterway Crystal Water Filtration Design:
- Based upon Pentair's pioneering 4 cartridge filtration system.
- The Crystal Water 425 filtration design uses a top manifold that has fittings designed to plug the endcaps of the four filter cartridges to direct the hydraulic pressure to guide the incoming water over the 425 sq. ft. filter cartridge surface area for substantially more debris catching filtration compared to the single cartridge system.
- The bottom manifold design has the four filter cartridge end caps fitting tightly over four fittings that have openings in them, which results in the hydraulic pressure in the filter forcing the water in the tank thru the filter cartridges down into the bottom manifold and out a bottom pipe fitting back in to the pool.
- Delivers clean water faster by using an industry leading 2-1/2" piping design.
- Waterway 425 cartridge filter with it's four cartridge design requires less frequent maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
You’ll know by checking the pressure gauge. When the pressure climbs about 7 to 10 PSI higher than your normal starting pressure, it’s usually a sign that the cartridges already need cleaning.
- Turn off your pool pump
- Release pressure from the system by opening the manual air bleeder.
- Take off the heavy-duty clamp.
- Lift off the filter lid.
- Remove the cluster of four filter cartridges.
- Rinse the pleats thoroughly using a garden hose with a spray nozzle.
In most cases, you don’t. A garden hose with a high-pressure spray nozzle should provide enough cleaning power to remove debris from your Water Crystal Water 425 filter cartridges. However, deeper cleanings may still help occasionally if you see too much oil or heavy buildup on the filter material.
Your filter cartridges should last somewhere between 2 and 4 years — around 2,000 hours of operation. However, their actual lifespan depends on how often you use and maintain your pool. If you use your pool heavily and frequently, you may need to replace your filters more regularly.
No, you won’t find a backwash valve on the Waterway Crystal 425 filter like what you’ll find on sand or D.E. filters. You need to clean the cartridges manually by removing and rinsing them as needed.
The lifespan of your pool filter will depend on:
- Your surrounding environment
- The amount of filter media compared to the pool size
- Exposure to body oils and hair products
Naturally, you may need to replace your Waterway Crystal filter cartridges more frequently with heavy usage or pool water balance.
Yes, and you can do that by using a pre-filter. It helps trap larger debris and contaminants before they reach all 4 cartridges, so it helps reduce buildup and wear on the filter media. It may also help minimize how frequently you clean and maintain the main filter.
Yes, as long as their dimensions match the exact specifications of your Waterway Crystal filter 425 system. UNICEL and Pleatco are some of the trusted manufacturers that carry compatible replacement cartridges, and you can find them here at All Pool Filters 4 Less.
As close to your pool as possible, on a solid, level concrete surface. You should also make sure that:
- The area drains properly and does not flood.
- There is enough clearance overhead and on the sides for servicing and cartridge replacement.
Yes, they usually do. Most replacement Waterway Crystal Water 425 filter cartridges include a manufacturer’s warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship. Depending on the exact model or package you buy, the coverage typically lasts anywhere from one to three years.
