Vita Spa Maintenance Checklist: Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Care Guide

Congratulations on your new Vita Spa! Owning a hot tub gives you a space to relax and recharge, as well as to enjoy time with your loved ones. And to keep that experience consistent, it helps to have a Vita spa maintenance checklist and learn when to clean your Vita Spa filter.

Not sure where to begin? This Vita Spa maintenance checklist breaks down daily, weekly, and monthly care so you can keep your spa running smoothly for years.

Daily care essentials

  • Check that the spa cover is clean and fully secured, as well as free from visible damage.
  • Adjust the water temperature if needed
  • Do a quick visual inspection of the spa shell and cover.
  • For outdoor spas, remove any debris or insects that may have fallen into the water.

Weekly maintenance tasks

  • Turn all pumps on for about 30 seconds, then test the water using test strips before adding any chemicals. Always adjust pH and alkalinity first to keep the water balanced.
  • Add two to four tablespoons of your preferred sanitizer every three to five days to maintain proper levels. If the sanitizer reading reaches zero, add two to four tablespoons at a time until readings improve.
  • Use a non-chlorine shock oxidizer once a week or after heavy use. Add three to five tablespoons per treatment. To lower pH, add one teaspoon of pH Down, wait 20 minutes, then retest and repeat if necessary.
  • If the water appears cloudy, make the required chemical adjustments and allow 24 to 48 hours for circulation and clarity to return.

Monthly spa care

  • Drain and refill your spa every three to six months, then follow the recommended start-up steps after refilling.
  • Clean the Vita Spa filter cartridges by rinsing them thoroughly with a hose. Consider using a dedicated filter cleaner so you can remove oils and buildup more effectively. Likewise, keep a second set of replacement filters so you can rotate them and extend their lifespans.
  • Replace the large filter every 18 to 24 months or sooner if wear becomes noticeable.
  • Clean the spa cover with mild soap and water, then apply 303 Protectant to both the cover and cabinet once a month.

Is it time to change your spa filter?

Even if you clean your Vita Spa filter regularly, it will still naturally wear out and lose its efficiency over time. When that happens, your spa’s water quality and circulation can suffer.

If you need a replacement, All Pool Filters 4 Less offers fast shipping, with orders sent out the same day or the next business day. Our team can also help you find the correct filter for your spa.
