  1. As of today, we have started carrying Pleatco replacement cartridge filters.  Many of you may have used Pleatco cartridge filters a year ago or more with unpleasant memories.  Well, the company was sold to new owners.  The owners have upgraded their manufacturing processes and are stating that they are making great strides in producing quality cartridges.  First of all, they have improved their filter bands to ensure they will not fall off.  Second, they are following original manufacturer specifications when creating their filters.
  2. We're expanding our Hayward product offerings to include their quality electronic chlorine generators that can be used in your pool or spa.  Products such as the replacement Turbo Cells in all 3 sizes as well as the AQR and AQR-PRO Control Panels.  Come check out our selection and prices.
  3. This season we're going to have sta-rite complete filter systems such as the S7D75, PLM100, PLM150, and more.  Additionally, you'll now be able to order common replacement parts for your filters such as O-rings, valves, lock rings, and more.  We want to be your one-stop shopping place for your pool and spa filtration needs.
  4. Hayward pool filter parts are now available.  We are in the process of adding some of the most commonly replaced parts on most all Hayward pool filters.  Hayward filter heads/lids are now available as well as the Hayward manual air relief assembly for the Swim Clear and Pro-Grid Series filters.  We will continue to add other parts such as valves, o-rings, gaskets, and more.
  5. Cleaning your cartridge filter:

If the filter cartridge has a coating of Algae, calcium carbonate (residue from calcium hypochlorite), iron or any other minerals, soak the filter cartridge in a solution of one part muriatic acid to twenty parts water until the bubbling stops.   RINSE THOROUGHLY AFTER.  WARNING:  Failure to remove all oils and cleaning solutions could result in the permanent restriction of water flow through your cartridge filter resulting in a partial or complete failure of your cartridge filter.

  6. For all you do-it-yourselfers out there that take care of your own pools like I do, I just wanted to make sure you were aware that having a clean pool filter and chlorine in your pool isn't always enough.  You should be checking your pool water regularly (I take mine to the local pool store - they check it for free) to see if mother nature is causing any problems in your pool.  Too much rain, sun, or humidity can create problems for a pool.  Stabilizer, acid, calcium, and sodium bicarb are some of the other treatments your pool may need in order to have that crystal clear enticing pool water.

  7. I'm not quite sure what environmental reasons create the perfect environment for algae, but when this situation happens, it is very difficult to control it with typical methods. When the algae first started in my pool last summer I did what the pool stores typically recommend and that is to brush your entire pool and clean your filter. This removes the algae from the sides of the pool and gets the algae out of your filtration system so it doesn't just disperse it right back into the pool. It is also important at this time to get your pool water corrected so you have the proper levels of chlorine and pH in your water.

  8. Unicel pool filters are an affordable, quality option for replacement cartridge filters.  They are manufactured right here in the U.S.  Unicel is a maker of cartridge filters.  They do not make their own filter systems, rather they just make cartridges to fit the filter systems of all the other major filter manufacturers.  Unicel makes their filters specifically to replace a specific cartridge in another filter system or systems.  Further, each filter is made to the exact original manufacturer's filtration specifications.
