  1. If you are looking for Hayward pool filter cartridges online and see some unbelievable deals, be careful.  Deals to good to believe, are most likely NOT good deals at all.

Hayward offers two distinct replacement cartridge product lines: 1) The cartridge that is sold with the filter and listed as the replacement part number in their owner's manuals and parts diagrams AND 2) An economical alternative made with 25% thinner filter fabric with a part number that is the same as the original part number, but with the letters BVS at the end.
  2. Sta-Rite pool filters makes the ultimate filter for large residential pools, the System 3 Series of cartridge filters.  The System 3 SM series of cartridge filters offers ultra high capacity filtration that is second to none.  Additionally, the modular design nestling one cartridge inside of another makes maintenance a breeze.  Both cartridges have shallower pleats than industry standard, making them easier to clean.
  3. It's a new year and here at All Pool Filters 4 Less we are launching our "Giving Back" campaign for 2017.  We will be donating .5% of all of our sales for the calendar year 2017.  We will send quarterly donations of equal value to the following three charities that we hold near and dear to or hearts:

  4. One of the new saltwater chlorinators on the market is the Jandy TruClear Saltwater Chlorinator.  This product seems to have all the characteristics a consumer is looking for:  easy to install, easy to use, easy to maintain, and easy on the wallet.  Additionally, this is a quality product that is deserving of the Jandy name with a 3 year warranty.
  5. It's officially Fall 2016, and for many pool owners across the country that means it is time to close down the pool for the season.   If this is your first time closing down the pool or would like a refresher, our friends at Swim University have written a great article, How to Close an Above Ground Pool.

After prepping the pool water for your pool closing, the last thing you will be doing is covering it up for the winter season.

A customer of ours called in today thinking that she had to replace her pool pump motor.  She stated that the pump was on, but it was louder than normal.  Also, the water didn't seem to be coming out of the jets.  Instead, every now and then she would see bubbles coming out of the jets.
  7. Do you have a Hayward SwimClear cartridge filter?  The kind that requires four replacement cartridges?  Please be aware that there are many different models of the Hayward SwimClear, each requiring a different size replacement cartridge filter.

Hayward lists all of the different sizes of the Hayward SwimClear four cartridge models on the label of the filter body.  They are supposed to clearly mark which model is yours.
  8. 9. It's that wonderful time of the year again.  The weather is nice, the sun is shining, flowers are blooming, everything is green........including the pool that's been sitting neglected for most of the winter.  No worries, a few hours on a Saturday morning should have it looking ready for another season.

First, if you are thinking that it's time for new cartridges, may I suggest using your old cartridges to get you through opening the pool.  Let the old cartridges take the beating of cleaning up the algae and debris that has been gathering all winter long.
  10. Now available, the best pool pump motor cover on the market from Horizon Industries.  This pool pump motor cover is made of durable PVC plastic and aluminum hardware to ensure it holds up against the weather.  The 2PMC16 is made to fit over most single speed and two speed motors up to 3 HP.

It's dimensions are 16 inches long by 11 inches wide and 11 inches wide.

  11. We're ringing in the New Year by adding more pool supplies that you need to our website!  Pool pump parts are being added to our website for the most popular Hayward, Pentair, and Jandy pump models such as:
  12. The latest Hayward pool filters are now available on our website, the SwimClear single element filter series.  The newly designed SwimClear single element filters are availabe in 3 sizes:  C100S - 100 square feet, C150S - 150 square feet, and C200S - 200 square feet.
  13. When your pool pump fails, it doesn't always mean it's time for a new motor.  Often times, if your motor is less than 5-7 years old and it fails, the real problem may be the start capacitor.  This is a part that costs less than $20.00 and can be easily tested and replaced as a DIY activity.  A $20.00 part is much easier on the wallet than a new motor that can cost anywhere from $130.00 to $300.00 plus.

    The typical warranty on a

  14. All Pool Filters are NOT Create Equal

Just because two filter cartridges are the same size does NOT mean they provide the same filtration for your pool. Filters are nothing more than a piece of filter fabric that your pool water gets pushed through to trap debris. Experts have found that to optimize the filtration process, pleating the fabric traps more debris. Additionally, the more filter fabric you have the more filter surface area you have to catch debris.
  15. Smart Water Saving Tips For Pool Owners
On average, the normal residential pool holds between 22,000 to 60,000 liters of water. However, this amount is usually a once fill quantity and then you will only have to top up your pool water from time to time with proper maintenance. You rarely need to drain a pool even if you get algae or cloudy pool water. As a pool owner, I know you have probably searched for ways on how to save on the amount of water you use in your pool.

It's hot and it's time to keep cool in the swimming pool.  Is your pool water green or cloudy?  Take a water sample to the local pool store to ensure your water has all the proper chemicals.  After that if there's still a problem, it's a good bet that your POOL FILTER may need cleaning or replacement.  Turn off the pool pump and open up your filter.  For a DE filter check to ensure there are no tears in the DE Grids.
  17. If your pool has turned green because your pump has stopped or you've been unable to keep up with the chemicals there is hope to easily correct your swimming pool water.

When your pool turns green to the point you can't see the bottom, you feel like you have lost your pool and now have a pond in your backyard.  The good news is that you can take back your pool fairly quickly and easily.

The first thing to do is to get a product designed specifically for a green pool problem.

  18. Lots of swimming pool owners are do-it-yourselfers and, as such, they want to buy the parts they need to maintain their pool equipment and install them on their own.  Some go to the local pool supply stores where they can get guidance from the pool experts in the store while others try to buy what they need online.  When shopping for pool equipment online it is important to be prepared and get all the critical information off your existing pool equipment such as the pool filter manufacturer/model, filter cartridge part number, pool pump manufacturer/model, and pump motor part number.
  19. TIP #1:
If your pool pump motor needs replacing and you are thinking this may be a good opportunity to upgrade your motor to increase the horse power for better water flow, we received information from Hayward's technical support stating that you only need to replace the impeller if you are DECREASING your horse power.  If you are INCREASING the horse power of your motor you do NOT have to replace the impeller.
  20. Hayward pool filters are one of America's top choices for keeping the water of residential swimming pools clean and clear.  In particular, the Hayward Star Clear Plus filter line offers a size for just about every pool, both above ground and in ground.
  21. Let spring 2014 be the time when you discover how to make your pool or spa maintenance a little easier with help from our friend Matt over at Swim University.  He has collected great information from his own 17 years experience as well as from other pool professionals.  They have free downloadable e-books containing great information on a user friendly easy to navigate website.  Whatever questions you may have about the maintenance of your swimming pool or spa can almost surely be answered by Swim University.
  22. A.O. Smith pump motors at new lower prices now.  Century motors recently acquired A.O. Smith motors.  They are introducing new improved pump motor models for 2014, so we have secured special pricing for the current model pumps.  Models such as USQ1202, USQ1152, SQ1202, ST1102, UST1102, and B625 for Polaris booster pumps all at great low prices.
  23. Unicel pool filters are an affordable, quality option for replacement cartridge filters.  They are manufactured right here in the U.S.  Unicel is a maker of cartridge filters and D.E. grids.  They do not make their own filter systems, rather they just make cartridges to fit the filter systems of all the other major filter manufacturers.
  24. Tips for Maintaining Your Swimming Pool
It’s not uncommon for swimming pool owners to be do-it-yourselfers. As such, they want to purchase the parts needed for maintaining their pools and install them on their own. Some may go to the local pool supply stores for some guidance from the “pool experts” regarding which chemicals are best to use in a swimming pool or which brand of motor pump will work best in their pool. Others may already know what they want and search for their products online.
  25. After maintaining my pool using liquid chlorine for over 10 years, I recently switched to granular chlorine and/or quick dissolving shock and what a difference!  The last few years I was having a hard time during the summer keeping my pool water clean and clear.  I was also having a constant battle with algae.  I switched about 8 months ago now, and I have never looked back.  My pool is sparkling clean and the water has great clarity.
  26. Understanding Your Swimming Pool
Maintaining a swimming pool, at first, can seem fairly straightforward. While it’s not a difficult task, though various aspects can seem daunting and may begin to overwhelm you. We at All Pool Filters 4 Less are here to tell you that maintaining your swimming pool doesn’t need to be difficult. Whether you are new to owning a swimming pool or have recently been charged with the maintenance of a swimming pool, the following tips we have are for you.
  27. Prices have just been cut another 15% off on all our original Harmsco replacement cartridge filters.  Hurricane 170 replacement cartridges now only $107.00.  The Harmsco Better Filter ST155 replacement cartridge now just $103.00.  Lower prices are great news for Harmsco filter owners.
  28. Swimming Pool Maintenance Resources
Throughout my years of learning about swimming pool maintenance, I have come across several services available to help one better understand how to properly maintain their swimming pool. One resource I have found to be particularly useful is the National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF). The NSPF is the result of the boom in the growth of the pool, spa, and aquatics industry in the U.S. following World War II.
  29. Another day in business means another day of learning more about swimming pool supplies and equipment.

A couple days ago a customer contacted me wanting to replace the cartridge for their PLM series filter.  They had one problem though, their Sta-Rite filter was quite old so they could no longer read the label which stated which model they had.  I told them to open the filter and retrieve the part number off their existing cartridge.
  30. We are pleased to announce that we are now offering the PayPal - Bill Me Later option on all purchases.  Click on our Bill Me Later image for details.  Now, if you don't have the money right now to get your pool in shape for the summer, consider paying with the PayPal Bill Me Later option which will allow you to enjoy your pool now and make easy payments later to pay for your order.  Enjoy your pool in the summer and pay later with PayPal's Bill Me Later option.

  31. After maintaining my own pool for 12 plus years now as well as operating a website that sells pool supplies, I have learned a thing or two about how to maintain your swimming pool.  The most important tip I can offer is how often to do pool maintenance:

    1.  Check your pool water weekly in order to maintain the proper chemical balance - sun, extreme heat, rain, frequent use, and debris can wreak havoc on your pool's water chemical balance.  Maintaining the chemical balance in your water is the top priority for a well-maintained pool.
  32. Shopping online for replacement pool filter cartridges or DE grids?  Before you make your purchase be sure you are ordering the right ones so you can avoid having to do a return and re-order.  There are two types of pool owners: ones that have their swimming pool maintained by a pool service company or do-it-yourselfers.  Most Do-it-yourselfers that maintain their own pool are very familiar with their pool equipment and thus most likely know exactly what they need to purchase.  Although, some may not have yet had to work with their filter.
  33. One of the most common do-it-yourself fixes for a swimming pool is replacing the pool pump motor.  It's recommended to use an electrician to correctly install your pump motor.  However, many people attempt to do it themselves.  Being a retailer that sells A.O. Smith replacement pump motors, I have received feedback from many customers that are replacing their own pump motors.  It can be a relatively easy thing to do IF everything goes smoothly.
  34. For those of you that have a Harmsco Better Filter that uses the Harmsco ST/6 cartridges should come check out our website for great prices on both original Harmsco replacements as well as Unicel T-380 replacement cartridges.  These Harmsco Better Filter models can use anywhere from 14 to 400 plus of these replacement filter cartridges.
  35. Do you have questions about your swimming pool equipment?  Need to identify part numbers for replacement parts for your pool filter, pump motor, or automatic pool cleaner?  We've compiled a list of technical support phone numbers for the major swimming pool equipment manufacturers for you below:

    • Hayward Technical Support 1-908-355-7995
    • Jandy Technical Support  1-800-822-7933
    • Pentair/Sta-Rite Technical Support 1-800-831-7133
    • Polaris Technical Support 1-800-822-7933
    • Waterway Plastics Technical Support 1-805-981-0262
    • A.
  36. It's almost pool season.  Would you like to extend your pool season this year?  Get yourself a quality solar pool cover.  Solar pool covers capture heat from the sun during the day and keep the cool evening air off of the water to prevent losing heat at night.  Another added benefit of a pool solar cover is that the cover helps prevent water evaporation.

Some solar pool covers can warm your pool water a full 10 degrees or more.
  37. Owners of the Hayward DE2400, DE3600, DE4800, and DE6000 filters are quickly realizing that their filter systems have been discontinued and replaced with newer Hayward models:  DE2420, DE3620, DE4820, and DE6020.

The good news is that the most common parts that need to be replaced, the actual DE Grids themselves, are still available.  Further, Hayward is using the same DE grids in both the old and new models.  Some other parts are still available as well but many now require an after-market replacement part.
  38. Lots of swimming pool owners are do-it-yourselfers and, as such, they want to buy the parts they need to maintain their pool equipment and install them on their own.  Some go to the local pool supply stores where they can get guidance from the pool experts in the store while others try to buy what they need online.  When shopping for pool equipment online it is important to be prepared and get all the critical information off your existing pool equipment such as the
  39. One of the most common problems in swimming pools is algae.  Some seasons it seems you can spend half of your time fighting algae in your pool instead of just enjoying your pool.  Algae needs several elements to grow in your pool.  The one I am going to focus on here is phosphates.  Phosphates can come from several environmental factors such as excessive rain or plant debris.  If you can eliminate or severely reduce the amount of phosphates in your pool, you will be able to stop algae from growing in your pool.
  40. We're pleased to announce a new clearance sale section on our website at All Pool Filters 4 Less.  In our pool supply clearance sale section we will be offering products that are overstocked at our suppliers at great low prices below what we would normally be able to sell these products for.  The item list will be constantly changing based on supply and will only be offered while supplies last.
  41. I am not only the owner/operator of the All Pool Filters 4 Less website, I am also a pool owner that maintains his own pool.  I have an inground pool which is about 10 years old now.  It holds approximately 10,000 gallons, which is relatively small by today's inground pool size standards.  I'm very much a Do-It-Yourselfer, so I have been maintaining the pool since day one.

Until the last couple years, the pool seemed very easy to maintain.
  42. Over the past year or so several people have contacted me looking for 7.5 inch diameter replacement D.E. grids for their Purex Triton D.E. filter.  I have not been able to locate them in the past, but took the time to research them and thought I would share the information.  7.5 inch diameter D.E. grids were made for the Purex Triton D.E. 800 Series filter models.  These were models such as SMN800.  Typically, the filter tanks were stainless steel.  The D.E. grids length ranged from 9 inches to 33 inches.
  43. Good news for Palm Beach county residents.  We are again able to offer discounted local delivery of many Unicel pool filters.  For a $5.99 local delivery charge, many Unicel pool filters, Pleatco pool filters, A.O. Smith pump motors, and Hayward original pool filters and filter parts are available to Palm Beach county shipping addresses.

  44. With our continued expansion of our product offering we are pleased to announce that we are now offering many of the most needed pool chemicals such as fast dissolving shock, 1 inch and 3 inch trichlor chlorine tabs, skimmer sticks, and several products from Natural Chemistry.  Natural Chemistry offers enzyme based solutions to help keep your pool water clean and clear.  Natural Chemistry has algae preventers/killers such as PhosFree and Commercial Strength PhosFree.
  45. We've been busy during the winter this season adding lots of new products.  In particular, pool pumps.  We now offer pool pumps from Hayward, Sta-Rite, Pentair, and Jandy.  It's been 3 full years now since our website was launched.  We started with a little over 150 products which were primarily replacement cartridges and DE Grids.  Now we have a large variety of over 600 products including replacement filter cartridges and DE Grids, complete pool filters, salt systems, filter parts, Nature2 mineral sanitizers, replacement pump motors, winter pool covers, saftety pool covers, and now pool pumps.
  46. The fall brings with it one of my favorite things, Florida Gator football.  I'm a Gator.  Graduated back in 1989.  I've been following them ever since.  This year as the season started my expectations weren't very high.  Coming off a 7-6 season didn't raise my hopes.  But then, we beat Texas A & M on the road, then Tennessee, then LSU.  There were signs of life....hope was back.  Will Muschamp is doing something right.

    Now, here it is 11/27/12.
  47. Although a majority of pool owners have already winterized their pool for the season and won't again be ready to use them til the spring, there are some that have indoor pools, heated pools, and hot tubs/spas that will be using them right through the winter.

So, for you folks, we offer great winter sale prices on pool filters, pump motors, and

  49. 55. It's that time across the country......time to open up the swimming pool.  Online shoppers are searching for the best deals.  There are lots of places to choose from.  Some offer free shipping or flat rate shipping.  But more times than not, their product prices are higher to basically include the cost of shipping.  Some offer very low prices but charge shipping.  Bottom line.......look for best total cost.  To get the best possible pricing on filters may be to buy more than one.
  56. Here at ALL POOL FILTERS 4 LESS we pride ourselves on offering the widest selection of quality products to our customers at great prices.  We are excited to begin offering new and improved cartridge filters manufactured by PLEATCO.  PLEATCO used to have a bit of a bad reputation for making "average" filters.  However, new owners of the company have improved their products significantly.  One of the biggest changes is the fact that they have went away from the industry standard REEMAY fabric.
  57. Now you can share your thoughts about our products in several different ways.  If you have a Google account you can click on our new Google Plus icon to share your recommendation of one of our products.  For Facebook users, you can click on our Facebook Like icon or share your thoughts about one of our products by leaving a product comment.  Lastly, you can submit a product review to let others know your experience with a particular product.

We are looking for more ways to get input and feedback from our customers so we can continue to improve our website and our product offerings.
  58. Many customers have contacted me over the past couple years asking, "how do I know when it's time to change my filter?".  I have been gaining more and more knowledge about pool filters since launching this site back in January 2010.  As a matter of fact, much more than what I knew from my own experiences of being a pool owner.  For cartridge filters, it's pretty straight forward.  Almost all cartridge filters have a pressure gauge on them.  Typically, a good standard is to note the pressure reading at the time of putting in a brand new filter.
  59. Anyone who owns a Jandy cartridge filter system please read this.  As of today, 3/8/12 it has been discovered that Jandy is currently shipping out Unicel cartridge filters from their facilities in original Jandy replacement cartridge boxes.  My distributor just confirmed that over a year ago Jandy stopped using a Chinese company to make their Jandy private label cartridges because of quality concerns.  They switched to Unicel.  The problem is, they didn't tell anyone.  Everyone is still paying Jandy original equipment cartridge prices for Unicel filters coming in a Jandy original equipment box!!!.
  60. As of today, we have started carrying Pleatco replacement cartridge filters.  Many of you may have used Pleatco cartridge filters a year ago or more with unpleasant memories.  Well, the company was sold to new owners.  The owners have upgraded their manufacturing processes and are stating that they are making great strides in producing quality cartridges.  First of all, they have improved their filter bands to ensure they will not fall off.  Second, they are following original manufacturer specifications when creating their filters.
  61. We're expanding our Hayward product offerings to include their quality electronic chlorine generators that can be used in your pool or spa.  Products such as the replacement Turbo Cells in all 3 sizes as well as the AQR and AQR-PRO Control Panels.  Come check out our selection and prices.
  62. This season we're going to have sta-rite complete filter systems such as the S7D75, PLM100, PLM150, and more.  Additionally, you'll now be able to order common replacement parts for your filters such as O-rings, valves, lock rings, and more.  We want to be your one-stop shopping place for your pool and spa filtration needs.
  63. Hayward pool filter parts are now available.  We are in the process of adding some of the most commonly replaced parts on most all Hayward pool filters.  Hayward filter heads/lids are now available as well as the Hayward manual air relief assembly for the Swim Clear and Pro-Grid Series filters.  We will continue to add other parts such as valves, o-rings, gaskets, and more.
  64. Cleaning your cartridge filter:

If the filter cartridge has a coating of Algae, calcium carbonate (residue from calcium hypochlorite), iron or any other minerals, soak the filter cartridge in a solution of one part muriatic acid to twenty parts water until the bubbling stops.   RINSE THOROUGHLY AFTER.  WARNING:  Failure to remove all oils and cleaning solutions could result in the permanent restriction of water flow through your cartridge filter resulting in a partial or complete failure of your cartridge filter.

  65. For all you do-it-yourselfers out there that take care of your own pools like I do, I just wanted to make sure you were aware that having a clean pool filter and chlorine in your pool isn't always enough.  You should be checking your pool water regularly (I take mine to the local pool store - they check it for free) to see if mother nature is causing any problems in your pool.  Too much rain, sun, or humidity can create problems for a pool.  Stabilizer, acid, calcium, and sodium bicarb are some of the other treatments your pool may need in order to have that crystal clear enticing pool water.

  66. I'm not quite sure what environmental reasons create the perfect environment for algae, but when this situation happens, it is very difficult to control it with typical methods. When the algae first started in my pool last summer I did what the pool stores typically recommend and that is to brush your entire pool and clean your filter. This removes the algae from the sides of the pool and gets the algae out of your filtration system so it doesn't just disperse it right back into the pool. It is also important at this time to get your pool water corrected so you have the proper levels of chlorine and pH in your water.

  67. Unicel pool filters are an affordable, quality option for replacement cartridge filters.  They are manufactured right here in the U.S.  Unicel is a maker of cartridge filters.  They do not make their own filter systems, rather they just make cartridges to fit the filter systems of all the other major filter manufacturers.  Unicel makes their filters specifically to replace a specific cartridge in another filter system or systems.  Further, each filter is made to the exact original manufacturer's filtration specifications.
